Shelley Thompson

Shelley is a Senior Project Officer within the Basin Science & Knowledge portfolio at the Murray–Darling Basin Authority, based in northwest Victoria. She specializes in applied sciences with a focus on inland freshwater ecology and management. She currently incorporates reviews and updates the Basin Plan 2012 Chapter 8 Environmental Water Plans for native fish, coordinates broad-scale basin-wide fish surveys, and assisted in coordinating Native Fish Recovery Strategy initiatives. Prior to her time at the MDBA, Shelley worked in the private sector, specializing in a range of native flora and fauna survey assessments. Her work encompassed studies of microbats, bush and waterbirds, reptiles, and riparian flora. This role also involved navigating Australian state and Commonwealth legislation for the protection of threatened species and communities.
